School Performances
Scope of Services
We provide flexible performances of traditional Arab music which include a presentation of regional musical traditions, information about period instruments, and an audience Q&A.
Assemblies can be tailored to the needs of a given event in the time allotted (concept presentation vs. musical performance). Most assemblies range between 20-60 minutes, and several (2-3) can be performed in a day on-site. We perform for all age groups, and our presentation style may vary slightly to uphold audience interest and engagement depending on grade level. Venues can vary in size and typically will not require specialized amplification equipment, other than a microphone for speaking between musical numbers.
Benefits:
Cultural Enrichment and Global Awareness
Wareed’s performances introduce students to the rich musical traditions of the Middle East, helping them experience instruments and sounds they may have never encountered before. This fosters a sense of global connectedness and helps students appreciate diverse cultures beyond media portrayals. Students become more open-minded and inspired to explore the world through its music.
Engaging and Interactive Learning
Students don’t just listen: they participate! Wareed’s assemblies include interactive elements like rhythm clapping, Q&A sessions, and cultural dialogues. Teachers often note how engaged students are, asking insightful questions and showing genuine curiosity. This active participation makes the learning experience memorable and rewards curiosity.
Easy Scheduling and Flexible Formats
With a dedicated scheduling point of contact and the ability to arrange performances with about one month’s notice, bringing Wareed to your school is easy. Performances can be tailored to different age groups and scheduled in the morning or afternoon, ensuring that the program fits seamlessly into your school day.
Adaptable and Age-Appropriate
Wareed customizes each assembly based on the comprehension and interests of different grade levels. For younger students, assemblies emphasize fun, interactive elements like clapping along to different rhythms. For upper grade levels, the focus might shift to deeper cultural
discussions and more complex musical concepts, ensuring that every student finds the experience engaging and meaningful.
